Support The Fourth Choir

Invest in our mission to pursue LGBTQ+ musical excellence with The Fourth Choir!
  • A unique take on classical music: Since the choir was founded, we have been committed to telling the stories of queer and other underrepresented lives through our programming, through showcasing particular composers, setting queer texts to music or weaving narratives and readings into our concerts.
  • Commissioning work: We have commissioned ten new choral works from some of the most exciting modern composers. Many of these set texts from celebrated queer writers from history including Sappho, Walt Whitman, Emily Dickinson and Wilfred Owen.
  • Championing diversity: We hold ourselves accountable to programming works by under-represented writers and composers in all our concerts and provide a vital supportive home for queer singers looking to sing exciting and challenging classical music.
  • Collaborations: We have been fortunate to collaborate with an incredible range of composers, artists, conductors and institutions from appearing with Sandi Toksvig at Shakespeare’s Globe, taking part in performance art events to staging our own BSL-integrated concert with an ensemble of Deaf musicians and engaging leading actors and presenters in our concert programmes.
As a charity, we rely on your support to break barriers and leave a lasting musical legacy.

Every contribution matters! Donate today to empower diverse voices in classical music.

About The Fourth Choir

The Fourth Choir is the UK's leading amateur LGBTQ+ classical chamber choir, made up of approximately 40 talented singers. Since our inception 10 years ago, we have given over 60 concerts in 40 venues across 4 countries and sung in many of London's most iconic cultural venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Shakespeare's Globe, and the Barbican.

We empowered breakthrough LGBTQ+ composers by commissioning 10 new choral works, many of which have been performed and recorded around the world by professional choirs.

We can't wait to see where the next 10 years take us!

We are a registered charity in England and Wales

Donations to The Fourth Choir are tax-deductible. If you are a UK taxpayer, please include a Gift Aid declaration with any donations to add an extra 25% to the value of your gift. Higher and additional-rate tax payers may also be able to claim relief on donations made to the choir. Check with HMRC to understand your own entitlement.
  • We have two charitable objects which include increasing public knowledge and enjoyment of choral music; and the promotion of diversity with particular reference to the LGBTQ + community.
  • We are committed to getting important but neglected LGBTQ + relevant texts set to choral music, such as poems by Sappho, Strato and Shakespeare.
  • We are passionate about our mission to affect human rights and equality through cultural impact, by performing at events under-represented by the LGBTQ + community.
  • In addition to funding our main objectives, we have been able to indirectly raise more than £6,350 for other important charities in our first four years.
