A Christmas concert featuring women composers Saturday, 7 December 2019, 7.00pm St Clement Danes, The Strand, London WC2R 1DH "In the stillness of a church where candles glow, In the softness of a fall of fresh white show..." Once again, the Fourth Choir will be celebrating the start of the Christmas season in the white-and-gold splendour of St Clement Danes in the Strand. Once again, a single voice will break the silence with Once in Royal David’s City. "In the clearness of a choir that softly sings, In the oneness of a hush of angels wings..." Once again, traditional carols will mingle with the less familiar. This Christmas, following on from our autumn concert 'Powerful and Dangerous, women who have made a difference', we feature compositions by women, like the exquisite In the Stillness by Sally Beamish, as well as songs by Ann Burgess, Cecilia MacDowell, Elizabeth Poston, Elizabeth Maconchy and our own commission of a choral arrangement of With Us by Clare Wheeler, which she originally wrote for the Swingles Singers. Tickets online (with fee): £18 centre nave, £14 rear and side naves, £9 side benches Tickets also available from members of the choir without fee. Head over to The Globe to pack in some festive family cheer. The Fourth Choir will be joining comedians Sandi Toksvig and Singhu Vee on a Christmas romp, and leading the singing of your favourite Christmas songs. Dress warm and join us for the most heart-warming of gatherings. |
